Listening to a Bad Song
In the series Listening to a Bad Song, I explore the phenomenon of memory tied to a specific route and space. The subject is a chronically familiar walk to school that I took countless times throughout my childhood and adolescence. It was precisely my inner reluctance to reach the destination that opened up the possibility to perceive my surroundings with extraordinary intensity and to focus on details that would otherwise have escaped me.
My works are not a mere documentation of a place, but a record of being in a "liminal state." I capture moments of rupture from reality and seconds of hesitation that disrupted the monotony of my walk — such as the moment by a broken window, from which faint music and a barking dog could be heard. This experience became the primary inspiration for the entire series and also gave it its name. Through drawing, I return to those deep, inner questions that these random perceptions awakened in me. Questions that, however, do not require a definitive answer.
